I am a PhD student at the University of Florida in the College of Agriculture's Family, Youth, and Community Sciences department. My field of study focuses on nonprofit leadership, with an emphasis on promoting diversity in leadership, understanding how leadership impacts organizational effectiveness and efficiency, and exploring strategies for succession planning to ensure sustainable leadership in nonprofits. I have spent nearly 25 years working in the nonprofit sector. For the past eight years, I have had the privilege of serving as the Executive Director of Vision Is Priceless, a Jacksonville-based nonprofit dedicated to providing free eye exams and glasses to uninsured, low-income children and adults. It has been an incredibly rewarding journey, and now my career focus has shifted toward helping to develop the next generation of nonprofit leaders.
I developed this E-Portfolio as part of the University of Florida graduate course, EME 6208: Designing Integrated Media Environments. Before taking this course, I had no experience with image editing or video design programs. This class provided me with the opportunity to explore and apply various technologies and strategies for creating engaging, interactive media content. Although I used various programs in this course, I feel most comfortable using Notepad for HTML, JavaScript, and CSS editing and Windows 11 ClipChamp for creating videos. I am interested in exploring GIMP and Inkscape for image design, as I believe they offer valuable tools for creating high-quality visuals. This has been an amazing experience, and I have gained invaluable knowledge and insights along the way. It is my goal to continue to improve my website and continuously add projects throughout my studies.
